Steps to install terminal
Charge
The cable connecting the P630-A must be connected first:
- Release the screw on the back panel.
- Slide the cable cover down.
- Attach the 28-PIN connector of the cable to the terminal.
- Slide the cable cover back in place.
- Replace and tighten the screw.
Turn the terminal on and off
- Turn on - Press and hold the power button (located on the left side of the terminal) for approximately 3 seconds until the start-up screen appears.
- Turn off - press and hold the power button for about 3 seconds or
- Force a turn off/ reset - if the device freezes, tap the on-screen ‘Power off’ button or press and hold the power button for 10 seconds.
NOTE: The terminal must be connected to a power source before attempting to power it on.
Configure 'Device ID'
Once the device is connected to a Wi-Fi network, there will be a prompt to 'Configure Device ID'.
- Tap the grey line to open the keyboard.
- Enter the Terminal Identification number (TID) into the 'Device ID' field.
- Press 'Submit'.
NOTES: Once a terminal reaches the ‘Configure Device ID’ stage, it is locked to this screen until the configuration is complete.
If there is an issue with the terminal configuration, for example, if the wrong values were entered, use the ‘Reset Wizard’ option in the ‘Device Manager’ and re-enter the correct values.
Configure terminal
After the 'Device ID' is entered, the terminal automatically contacts the Verifone HeadQuarters (VHQ) terminal and begins a configuration download. This includes checking for, and installing software updates when required.
NOTE: Device ID must be prefixed with '1013'.
Example: TID = 'SP056789', must be entered as '1013SP056789'
NOTES:
- If a software update is required, the device will reboot several times during the update. Ensure the device has a constant power connection during this process.
- The screen may continue displaying 'Checking for updates' for an extended period if no updates are available for the device. You can exit this screen by tapping the four corners in a clockwise sequence (1,2,3,4).
Set up manager and cashier passcodes
NOTE: The correct admin passcode is required before setting up manager and cashier passcodes. Contact Wpay support or the Point Of Sale (POS) provider for the admin passcode.
Steps to set up passcodes:
- Unlock the terminal. (is this ‘apparent’ to the person setting up passcodes?).
- Swipe down from the top of the terminal screen to pull down the Android bar to access the 'Launcher' menu.
- Open the ‘Device Manager’ application.
- Tap ‘Passcode Management’.
- When prompted, enter the current manager passcode.
- Click ‘Enter’.
- Choose the type of passcode to change (manager or cashier).
- Follow the on-screen prompts.
- Re-enter the manager passcode when prompted.
- Click ‘Enter’.
- Enter the new passcode for the selected role.
- Click ‘Enter’.
- Confirm the new passcode by entering it again and clicking ‘Enter’.

Set up the Wi-Fi Connection
NOTE: The Point Of Sale (POS) terminal must be connected to the Wi-Fi network.
To set up the Wi-Fi connection with the P630-A terminal, follow these steps:
- Ensure Point Of Sale (POS) application is installed on the Windows computer.
- On the P630-A terminal, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to access the ‘Launcher’ menu.
- Go to ‘Settings’.
- Select 'Network and Internet'.
- Connect to the same Wi-Fi network the POS application is connected to.
- Update the POS IP address, if required.
- Logon from the POS application.
- Terminal should display 'POS Connected' message.
- Once the POS is connected, initiate a transaction to ensure the terminal is receiving the request.
Set up the Ethernet connection
For setting up Ethernet connection with P630 device, specifically when using the IP Dongle cable setup, follow these steps:
On the Verifone P630-A terminal:
- Ensure POS application is installed on the Windows device (PC).
- Unplug the Ethernet cable from the wall socket.
- Plug that Ethernet cable into the IP dongle.
- Use another Ethernet cable to connect the dongle back to the wall socket.
- Plug in the dongle’s power supply.
On the P630-A terminal:
- Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to access the 'Launcher' menu.
- Go to 'Settings'.
- Select 'Network and Internet'.
- Go to Advance Options.
- On Ethernet ensure the setting as DHCP.
- Click 'Save'.
On the Windows device (PC)
- Go to 'Control Panel'.
- Click on 'Windows Defender Firewall'.
- Select 'Inbound Rules'.
- Click 'New Rule'.
- Select the 'Port'.
- Enter 2012.
- Choose 'Allow the connection'.
- Select 'Outbound Rules'.
- Click 'New Rule'.
- Select the 'Port'.
- Enter 2012.
- Select 'Allow the connection'.
- Once the POS is connected, initiate a transaction, and ensure the terminal is receiving the request.
Setting up RNDIS Connection
Pre-requisite:
On the Windows PC/ laptop, check that the Windows device is sharing a an enabled and active RNDIS connection with the Ethernet and that it displays 'Verifone RNDIS').
To set up RNDIS connection with P630-A terminal:
Ensure the POS application is installed on the Windows PC/ laptop.
On P630-A terminal:
- Go to 'Settings.
- Select 'Network and Internet'.
Select 'Advanced Options' and click on 'IP Over USB'. Current IP over USB config will be displayed
4. If necessary to clear pre-defined RNDIS settings, click 'RESET TO DEFAULTS'.
5. Click on the 'IP over USB mode' option to enable RNDIS as the connectivity mode.
6. Once selected, the default RNDIS settings defined in the backend are automatically applied.
7. Perform a transaction or a logon to test that the RNDIS connection is working.
To reset RNDIS
To change the default settings or to manually configure RNDIS settings:
- Go to 'Settings'.
- Select 'Network and Internet'.
- Select 'Advanced Options' .
- Click 'IP Over USB'.
- Click 'Settings button' in top right of panel.
