Purpose
This document covers the connectivity options for the Verifone V660P and P630 terminals and provides a step-by-step guide the key actions required before and during the process to ensure successful connection.
The document covers requirements before and during the setting up, the pairing process and how to connect via:
- Bluetooth.
- Ethernet.
- IP Dongle.
- RNDIS.
- RNDIS - Static IP address configuration.
Ethernet set up and pairing with Bluetooth full-feature base
This section covers step-by-step, set-up instructions to pair a full-feature base with the V660P/ T650P terminal by Ethernet, including requirements before and during the pairing process.
Bluetooth
Terminals with a full-featured base can be used away from the base (are mobile and free from cables) but must first be ‘paired’ to the base via Bluetooth, so the base recognises the terminal(s).
Prerequisites: To pair a full-feature, Verifone V660P terminal with its base via Bluetooth, ensure the:
- Terminal is fully charged.
- Terminal configuration is complete.
- Base is plugged into a power source.
On the terminal:
- Turn the terminal on and let it fully awaken (this may take up to 5 minutes).
- Swipe down from the top of the screen to find the Bluetooth icon. If it is greyed out or has a line through it, tap on the Bluetooth icon to enable it.

2. Swipe down from the top of the screen and select the ‘Base Control’ app.
NOTE: You can also ‘Search apps’ by clicking the magnifying glass and typing in the app you need.
The ‘Base control’ app opens the ‘Base Manager’.
- Select ‘Pair A new Dock’.
The terminal will display ‘Put terminal into dock’ (base).
- Place the terminal in the base so it sits correctly in the base.
- Check that the terminal displays ‘Pairing in progress’.
- Check that the terminal displays ‘Waiting for communication from base...'
- After the Bluetooth connection is made, the terminal will display ‘Complete - Paired successfully’ and will list the connected bases.
NOTE: After the terminal and base are paired, the base serial number (#) may not be listed as a connected dock.
- Confirm the connection between the base and terminal is active by checking that the Bluetooth Icon at the top of the terminal is lit up.
Ethernet connection
To connect the base to the Ethernet, use the cable that was provided with the terminal base.
Insert an Ethernet cable from the router into the left port of the base (marked with ).
Setting static Ethernet connection
It is possible that the site is running a static IP setup. To test this:
- Select 'Base Control' app from the listing of apps or search for 'Base Control'.
- Tap on the 'Connected Dock' serial number.
- In 'Base Settings', tap ‘Base Ethernet Settings’.
- Tap on the settings icon.
- Click on 'IP assignment mode'.
- Select ‘Static’.
Enter the Static IP details
- Enter 'IP Address'.
- Enter 'Gateway'.
- Enter 'Network prefix length' as '24'.
- Enter 'DNS1'.
- Enter 'DNS2'.
- Tap 'SAVE'.
IP dongle set up (Ethernet connection setup)
Purpose
To provide a step-by-step guide for Ethernet connection with a P630 device when using an IP Dongle cable setup and outline the key actions required before and during the process to ensure successful connection.
Pre-requisite for installation:
POS application must be installed on the window device. Required tools include: Ethernet cable, IP dongle and power supply.
In the image below note these specifics:
1 = Plug into the computer via the existing network cable.
2 = Plug additional network cable into the Ethernet wall socket.
3 = Plug in power supply.
Connecting P630 device to the POS
- Unplug the Ethernet cable from the wall socket.
- Connect the DUAL IP dongle to the Ethernet cable.
- Use the additional Ethernet cable provided to connect the DUAL IP Dongle to the wall socket.
Note: The Ethernet cables can be plugged into any port on the DUAL IP Dongle.
- Connect the power supply to the DUAL IP Dongle.
- Go to ‘Settings’.
- Select 'Network and Internet'.
- Select ‘Advance Options’.
- Select ‘Ethernet’.
NOTE: Leave Ethernet settings as 'DHCP'.
- Tap ‘Save’.
Firewall Settings
NOTE: Inbound and outbound firewall settings are established at the same time.
On the central device or computer:
- Go to ‘Control panel’.
- Click ‘Windows Defender Firewall’.
- On the 'Windows Defender Firewall' page, click ‘Advanced settings’.
Inbound rules
- Click on ‘Inbound Rules’.
- From the dropdown menu, click ‘New Rule’ to open the 'New Rule Wizard'.
On the left side of the window there is a list of 'Steps' to use to set set up the firewall.
- In the 'New Inbound Rule Wizard', select 'Rule Type'.
- Tick ‘Port’.
- Click 'Protocols and Ports'.
- In the 'Protocol and Ports' page, tick 'TCP'.
- Tick ‘Specific local ports’ and enter 2012.
- Click ‘Action’.
- In the 'Action' page, tick ‘Allow the connection’.
- Click ‘Profile’.
- In the 'Profile' page, tick all connection types.
- Click ‘Name'.
- In the 'Name' page, type in the rule name = ‘POS Inbound’.
- Click ‘Finish’.
Outbound rules
Return to the ‘Control panel’.
- Click ‘Windows Defender Firewall’.
- On the 'Windows Defender Firewall' page, click ‘Advanced settings’.
- Click on ‘Outbound Rules’.
- From the dropdown menu, click ‘New Rule’ to open the 'New Rule Wizard'.
- Click ‘Outbound Rules’.
- Click ‘New Rule’.
- In the 'New Outbound Rule Wizard', select 'Rule Type'.
- Tick ‘Port’.
- Click ‘Protocol and Ports'.
- In 'Protocol and Ports' tick 'TCP'.
- Tick ‘Specific Local Ports’ and type in: 2012
- Click 'Action'.
- in the 'Action' screen, tick 'Allow the connection’.
- Click ‘Profile’.
- In the 'Profile' page, tick all connection types.
- Click ‘Name’.
- In the 'Name' page, type in the rule name = ‘POS Outbound’.
- Click ‘Finish’
RNDIS Connection Setup
Purpose
To provide a step-by-step guide for setting the RNDIS connection with P630 device, including outlining key actions required before and during the process to ensure successful connection.
NOTE: Before starting the connection process, follow these instructions to ensure a smooth transition and avoid configuration or device issues.
Pre-requisite
The Windows device must have Verifone RNDIS, must be sharing the network with Ethernet and that the RNDIS connection is enabled and active.
On P630 Terminal:
- Go to 'Settings'.
- Select 'Network and Internet'.
- Select 'Advanced Options'.
- Click on 'IP Over USB' to display the current IP over USB configuration.
- Click 'RESET TO DEFAULTS' to clear any pre-defined RNDIS settings.
- Click on 'IP over USB mode'.
- Tick 'RNDIS' as the connectivity mode.
- Once selected, the pre-defined, default RNDIS settings are automatically applied.
- Perform a transaction or a logon to confirm the RNDIS connection is working.
Resetting of RNDIS
To change the default settings or to manually configure RNDIS settings:
- Go to ‘Settings’.
- Select 'Network and Internet'.
- Select 'Advanced Options'.
- Click on 'IP Over USB'.
- Click on 'Settings' again to change the IP address (top right corner of terminal screen).
RNDIS static IP address configuration.
NOTE: Before starting the connection process, follow these instructions to ensure a smooth transition and avoid configuration or device issues.
- Configure the file: enable_ics_autostart_1_2.bat
- Download and run the file: enable_ics_autostart_1_2.bat
- In Window search – type: ‘Services’.
- In the 'Services System' app, click 'Open'.
- In the 'Services' page, locate ‘Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)’, in this listing.
- Double click 'Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)'.
- In the new pop-up window in 'Startup type', select ‘Automatic (Delayed Start)’ from the drop down menu.
- Click ‘OK’.
Checking in 'Registry Editor'
- In Window search – type 'Registry Editor' to open the app.
- In ‘Registry Editor’, open the folder: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
- Click on:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedAccess
- Verify if EnableRebootPersistConnection is listed.
- If it is not present raise a support ticket (at bottom of page).
- Add the 'AutoStart Delay' in the 'Registry Editor'.
- In window search – type ‘Registry Editor'.
- Open the app.
- In 'Registry Editor', Navigate to this path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\VFIUNIUSB
- Right click on the ‘VFIUNIUSB’ folder.
- Click on ‘New'.
- Select the ‘DWORD(32-bit) Value’.
Name: 'AutoStartDelay'.
- Type: 'REG_DWORD'.
- Data: Select the 'Decimal' radio button and give the value = 240000
- Click 'OK'.
- After adding, check that it now appears in the list (see below).
Install Verifone USB driver
- Download the file: UNIFIEDUSBDRV-05.00.05.02-B3.zip
- Extract: UNIFIEDUSBDRV-05.00.05.02-B3.zip
- Based on the system configuration, if the device is:
- Windows 32 bit - go to the32-bit folder.
- Windows 64 bit - go to the 64-bit folder.
- Edit the ‘silent_install_VerifoneUSBDriverUninstall.bat’ file using Notepad++/Notepad software.
- In ‘msiexec’ line (11th line), at the end of that line, add: INSTALL_RNDIS=1
- Save the file.
- Go back to the folder.
- With administrator access to install the Verifone USB driver into the system, run the file: silent_install_VerifoneUSBDriverUninstall.bat
Verifying the Verifone USB driver installation
- Navigate to the ‘Control Panel’.
- Select ‘Programs and Features’.
- Click on ‘Uninstall a program’.
- Search for: VerifoneUnifiedDriverInstaller
- Under ‘Network Adapters’ find ‘Verifone RNDIS 6.0’.
Configure the static IP in P630 terminal
NOTE: Before beginning, disconnect the ‘Cisco VPN’ or ‘Pulse VPN’ on the laptop:
- Install the latest P630 build onto the terminal.
- Disconnect WIFI.
- Go to 'Settings'.
- Select 'Network and Internet'.
- Select 'Advanced Options'
- Click on 'IP Over USB' to display the current IP over USB configuration.
- Click 'IP over USB mode' option to enable RNDIS as the connectivity mode.
- Tick the ‘IP over USB mode' radio button for ‘RNDIS’.
- Once selected, the default RNDIS settings defined in the backend are automatically applied.
- Perform a transaction or a logon to make sure the RNDIS connection is working.
Share WIFI to a particular Ethernet number
- Go to the 'Network connections' Tab.
- In ‘Window search’ – search and go to ‘View Network Connections’.
- Right click on ‘WI-FI’.
- Click on ‘Properties’.
- Go to ‘Sharing Tab’
- Tick 'Allow other network users to connect through the computer's internet connection'.
- Open the 'Home networking connection' dropdown menu and select 'Ethernet 24' (appears on the ‘Network Connection’ screen).
- Click 'OK'.
Troubleshooting RNDIS connections
How to resolve the common RNDIS connection issues.
- To reconnect USB - If RNDIS is connected, try unplugging and re-plugging the USB cable connected to the laptop or PC.
- To reconnect RNDIS - If RNDIS is connected with an exclamation mark, wait for up to 30 seconds for a successful connection. If it doesn't connect, unplug and re-plug the USB cable.
- If RNDIS is not connecting - In 'Terminal Settings', disable 'RNDIS Settings', then re-enable them and check for a connection.
- Reshare internet - Try resharing the internet connection from the 'Network Connections' tab using the correct Ethernet number.
