Purpose

Steps to connect a Verifone P630 terminal to the Ethernet, when using an IP Dongle cable setup.  Includes key actions required before and during the process to ensure a smooth transition and avoid configuration or device issues. 

Pre-requisite: 

• Point Of Sale (POS) application installed onto the Window's device.
• Required tools:  Ethernet cable, IP dongle and power supply. 
• The red numbers below identify (numbers 1 and 2 are on the dongle):

1 – Ethernet port to connect the computer using the existing network cable.

2 – Additional Ethernet port when using a cable plugged into an Ethernet wall socket.

3 – Connection port for the power supply cable.

Connecting P630 device to the Point Of Sale (POS) computer.

• Unplug the Ethernet cable from the wall socket.
• Connect the DUAL IP dongle to the Ethernet cable.

• Use the additional Ethernet cable (provided), to connect the DUAL IP dongle to the wall socket. 

  NOTE:  The Ethernet cables can be plugged into any port on the DUAL IP dongle

• Connect the power supply to the DUAL IP dongle.

On the terminal: 

1. Go to 'Settings'.
2. Select 'Network and Internet'.
3. In 'Network and Internet', click on 'Advance Options'.
4. Ensure the 'DHCP' buttons are set for Ethernet. 
5. Click 'Save'.

Firewall settings

On the computer:

1. Open the control panel.
2. Click 'Windows Defender Firewall'.
   
3. Click on Advanced settings.

Inbound rules

1. Click on 'Inbound Rules'.
2. Click 'New Rule'.

This opens the 'New Inbound Rule Wizard'.

3. Select 'Port'.
4. Select 'Next'.

5. Select 'Protocol and Ports'.
6. Type '2012' in 'Specific local ports'.
7. Click 'Next'.  

8. Select 'Allow the connection'.
9. Click 'Next'.

10. Tick all connection types ('Domain', 'Private', and 'Public').
11. Click 'Next' 

Name the inbound rule: 

1. Click 'Name' in the 'Steps' window.
2. In the 'Name' field enter 'POS Inbound'.
3. Click 'Finish'.  

Outbound rules

1. In 'Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security, select 'Outbound Rules'.
2. In the 'Actions' area, click 'New Rule'.

3. On the 'Rule Type' page, Select 'Port'.
4. Click 'Next'.

5. Type '2012' in 'Specific Local Ports.
6. Click 'Next'.

7. Select 'Allow the connection'.
8. Click 'Next'.

9. On the 'Profile' page, tick all connection types.
10. Click 'Next'.

11. On the 'Name' page, click 'Name' in the 'Steps' window.
12. In the 'Name' field enter 'POS Outbound'.

Click 'Finish'.
