Purpose
To locate terminal log data in PaySuite terminals to use to help diagnose an incident.
Introduction
Terminal logs provide historical records to help diagnose incidents, track user actions and understand why a system or application is behaving in a certain way. The information is needed for troubleshooting, security monitoring and performance analysis.
Terminal logs
Terminal logs contain:
- Date.
- Timestamp.
- Process/ thread ID.
- Message associated with the terminal.
Retrieve terminal logs
- Locate the PaySuite terminal to access - ‘How to search for a Device’.
- Once the specific terminal appears in the search result, click on the 'Device Record' to open the ‘Terminal Details Dashboard’.
- Click the ‘Settings’ tab.
- Click ‘Terminal Control’ near the bottom of the panel on right side of the page to open the Logcat window.

5. On the Logcat page, click ‘COLLECT’ button to select the log type (Logcat/ Detail Log) view.

Logcat logs display events that occurred on the terminal in real-time for a particular day, representing the extraction of all activities.

Detail Log
Detail Logs are run within a defined timeframe. To select the time parameters, click on the calendar icon to set the start and end dates.

Each 'Detail Log' includes a date, timestamp, process/ thread ID and associated message.
To view ‘Detail Logs’:
- Click ‘Refresh’ to load the most current data by clicking on the ICON.
NOTE: The system must be online and synchronised to retrieve the Logs.
- Check the synchronisation timestamp (in the top-right corner) is correct, if not, manually set the date on the drop down calendar.
- Click the ‘refresh’ icon.
